Welcome to the homepage of the 7th European Workshop on Phosphorus Chemistry.

The symposium EWPC-7 is organized in Budapest, Hungary on March 25 (Thursday) and 26 (Friday) 2010, as a follow up of the events in Kaiserslautern (2004), Bonn (2005), Leipzig (2006), Zandvoort (2007), Regensburg (2008) and Florence (2009).

EWPC-7, like the preceding symposia of the series is organized for PhD students working in the broad field of phosphorus chemistry including theoretical, physical, inorganic, organic, organometallic, synthetic or polymer subdisciplines as well as materials science and catalysis.

Lectures and posters from the most recent results of phosphorus containing systems together with the usual vivid discussions during the sessions and coffee breaks and the evenings make EWPC an important forum for the community of the European phosphorus chemists. The tentatively planned 35 lectures are delivered by PhD students. By the selection of the 15 minutes (+ 5 minute discussion) oral presentations the scientific merit will be the most important guideline, however, care will be taken to give all leading research groups the possibility for one oral contribution. Session chairpersons will be selected among the PhD students. The best talks and posters and the best chairperson will be awarded.

The meeting will be followed by different meetings of the COST action CM0802 (Phoscinet). The MC meeting and the presentations of the five working groups (WG meeting) will follow EWPC-7 on March 26 (Friday) and 27 (Saturday). Also a three days Phoscinet Training School entitled: Models, Structures, Spectroscopies − Contemporary Methods, aiming to deepen the knowledge of young researchers in the most modern techniques used in phosphorus chemistry will take place from March 27 (Saturday) to 29 (Monday) will be organized in Pécs as a follow up event of EWPC-7.

Accommodation is made available in different categories of hotels. A historical lecture delivered by John Nixon on the development of low valent phosphorus chemistry will be followed by a conference dinner to give the participants chance further discussions while enjoying the traditionally rich Hungarian gastronomic culture.
